Beesia deltophylla Or Beesia calthifolia, apparently.  Divisions and/or offspring from the Hinkley introduction, anyway. Glossy, deep green foliage with pronounced, paler, impressed veins, and delicate white flowers hovering above for an extended period. Subtly elegant but quite tough. Leaves becoming larger with age.  Z6 POT SIZE:B  $12

Begonia grandis (very dark leaf reverse) Very similar to ‘Red Undies’ or the Wildwood plants, I imagine, but this one popped up here.  Solid claret leaf leaf reverse, and pink flowers.  Upper surface is commensurately deeper green, too. Z6 POT SIZE:

Bergenia ciliata (usual clone) The generally encountered form of this species, which may be reassuring to some.  Wonderfully hairy petioles and nicely villous leaves.  Mostly for foliage, though areas not prone to late spring frosts will see white flowers, deepening to pink with age. Z6 POT SIZE:B  $12

Bergenia ciliata curly leaf seedlings   These are established seedlings from the plant ‘Susan Ryley’ which I acquired from Darrell Probst a few years ago without a cv name.  Though there will be some variation, each will have a noticeably ruffled leaves. Z6 POT SIZE: A $10

Bergenia ciliata Dixter Form (=’Wilton’?) A tactile wonder, with enormous, densely hairy, pet-able foliage.  Still unable to produce enough to meet demand.  Kindly shared by Fergus Garrett, who thinks this may be the same as ‘Wilton’, though it arose at Dixter, where its still unnamed.  Z6 POT SIZE:

Bergenia pacumbis  This plant has cemented my affection for the genus, with it’s bold Rheum-esque gestalt.  From Chris Chadwell seed, via Ellen Hornig.  Z6 POT SIZE: B $12

Bergenia purpurescens ex ‘Irish Crimson’ (‘Helen Dillon’)  True to type seedlings from the plant that Helen told me is the only one she’s ever pinched, from the RBE.  I acquired the clone from David Mason/Hedgerows Nursery a couple of times, but could never keep it going for some reason, so decided to re-select. Usual outstanding beetroot foliage from this species and typically vibrant pink flowers, with the distinctive habit of holding its foliage completely erect.  Z6  POT SIZE: A $10

Bidens heterophylla ‘Hannay’s Lemon Drop A British selection of a late blooming Southeast US native, distinctive in that each petal is tipped in white.  The flowers are larger than the norm, too. Vigorous, with stems to 6′, and often still blooming into early December here. Z7 POT SIZE: C $12
